The Des Moines Police Department in conjunction with South King Fire & Rescue will begin conducting NET classes for the citizens of Des Moines starting in the fall of 2008. The Neighborhood Emergency Team classes provide guidelines for personal and neighborhoodpreparedness. There are four components or meetings to the program. Each class is an hour to two hours in length depending on the number of students. Information and scheduling can be adjusted to meet the needs of the group. Classes include: 1. Personal/Household Preparedness 2. Neighborhood Disaster Planning 3. Neighborhood Walkabout – (Identify Neighborhood Concerns) 4. Team Drill |
Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) Volunteer Instructors WANTED! Is emergency preparedness a passion of yours? Do you want to make a difference in your community? Yes? Then become a volunteer trainer for Des Moines Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET). You can be part of a dynamic team, helping neighborhoods prepare for and respond to any type of disaster. The Des Moines Police Department and South King Fire & Rescue are looking for volunteers to instruct emergency preparedness classes. The Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) training is scheduled to begin in the fall. If you like talking to people and helping others, this may be the job for you. Each neighborhood program involves one or two hours over the course of several weeks presenting information about emergency preparedness.
