Event Title: Car Fit Program
Where: Des Moines Activity Center
Tuesday, September 16, 2008
Time: 12:45 PM - 3:00 PM
CarFit Program
A new innovative program called CarFit is helping older drivers adapt their
vehicles to make them "fit" better. Trained volunteers use a 12 point
checklist to examine driver seat positions, the ability to reach the pedals, and
mirror position among other things. Following the 20 minute evaluations,
participants may consult a driver rehabilitation specialist who can suggest
ways to maintain and strengthen their driving abilities. The program is a
collaboration of AAA, AARP and other senior organizations. Appointment
necessary. Thanks to our CarFit coordinator, Dick Body.
